US Judge bans lawyers from using ChatGPT-drafted content at court

A federal judge in the US has barred the use of AI-generated content in his courtroom, reasoning that such content could be erroneous or biased. Judge Brantley Starr in Texas ordered that lawyers presenting cases must confirm that their filing was not created by AI or was reviewed by humans. If AI was utilized, the document must contain a certificate declaring that parts created by the technology were subjected to human scrutiny using traditional legal databases. The judge set the rule following instances where AI gave false information during legal research.
